Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum)

With yellow-white flowers that emit a strong fragrance and bloom in early summer, Fenugreek is often used as a compress or in facial steam. It cleanses oily skin, minimizes blemishes and, when used on the hair, strengthens the scalp. Fenugreek seed has an ancient history: Its use has been valued in healing and reducing inflammations of wounds, easing bronchitis and sore throats, and soothing digestive problems. It is a strong stimulator of milk production in mothers.

From ancient times through the late 19th century, Fenugreek has played a major role in herbal healing. It is an annual that grows up to 16 inches tall and has yellow-white flowers with a strong fragrance, which blooms in May and June. Externally, Fenugreek is used as a compress or in a facial steam. It cleanses oily skin, minimizing blemishes and strengthening the hair when used on the head.
