Musk Mallow (Abelmoschus moschatus)
Graceful and wild flowery, Musk Mallow grows two to three feet tall and bears handsome, satiny pink flowers in early to mid-Summer. The rich green, lobed leaves have long been used medicinally to soothe dry throats and chest coughs. Poultices were used to heal burns and abscesses. Native of Persia and the tropical Indian sub continent, it grows all over tropical regions of India. In oil form, it has an aroma resembling that of musk; dominating and strong. Mogul kings put Musk Mallow oil on the carpets, curtains and incenses of the harem to create an environment in which their wives would feel the fragrance of male attraction. Musk Mallow rejuvenates the body and mind as it stimulates the brain cells.
